We’d like to take this opportunity to introduce the 2nd prize winners of Iceland Trekking Cabins competition - Mattias Dahlberg, Robin Krasse and Karl Lagerqvist from Sweden!

2nd prize winners from Sweden - Mattias Dahlberg, Robin Krasse and Karl LagerqvistWe are three former students from KTH School of Architecture in Stockholm, Sweden, now working in offices in Stockholm and Zürich.

The scale of the building in the competition is one that we find interesting - the balance between human, structure and site. Good architecture, to us, is found in the intersection between structural, spatial and social qualities; where they meet and create a greater whole.

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

We believe that the role of the architect lies in the pursuit of this point of intersection.

Why do you participate in architecture vision competitions?

For us, this type of visionary competition is simply an opportunity to try out ideas that excite us. The format of the competition permits a certain freedom in terms of conceptual development, with the challenge being to both develop yet maintain the qualities of the initial idea as far as possible.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture vision competitions?

Just do it!
